Yegs project

Young European Guitar Stars - Milano is an ambitious project which stems from Festival Corde d'Autunno and the Centro Asteria, thanks to the creativity and courageous initiative of Marco Ramelli and the collaboration of a staff of talented guitarists in Milan, with the aim of creating a series of events for the promotion of talented youths, quality music and creativity.

The YEGS project bears an international character, thanks to the presence of both Italian and foreign guitarists of an excellent level in the concert season and in our higher formation lectures and masterclasses, to the cooperation of composers from all over the world, and the presence of Italian and foreign guitar makers at the guitar shows which are organized within the various project initiatives.

More than forty artists will be committed in the project, among whom some of the most outstanding emerging guitarists who have already won important international prizes. Quite a few of the most renowned international performers and teachers will be involved as well, in addition to numerous students from all over Europe.

Our project puts a great highlight on the importance of orchestra music for the youth and chamber music, since we believe it is crucial both from a didactic and social and cultural perspective.

Creating music together favours the development of important values and it is a means which can be used as a laboratory for the development of integration, intercultural dialogue and to strengthen social  bonds. It is our intention to overcome economic barriers through a reduced prices policy for our courses.

The project is oranized in numerous activities: a summer course, a very high profile festival, an advanced training center, workshops in music ensemble and orchestra of guitars, a show of young concert performers at the Castello Sforzesco, guitar makers shows, meetings in lower secondary schools, promoting composition and creativity with a competition, commission of new works.

Call for composers

As one of the first researchers in performance at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Saint Andrews University, I am going to explore in my project the relationship between guitarist and composers with the aim of widening the contemporary repertoire for classical guitar.

I am looking for composers interested in collaborating with me and writing for solo guitar.

It will be a valuable occasion to work closely with a guitarist and have the work performed in prestigious halls in UK and Europe, recorded in a professional studio and promoted worldwide with the help of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, one of most prestigious musical institution in UK, the Saint Andrews University and the Festival Corde d'Autunno in Milan.
